I just wanted to write a quick post on gratitude and being thankful, following on from the gratitude stone post I wrote a while back. Sometimes in our busy daily life we forget just how lucky we are to be alive.
How is your life? Is it good? Do you have problems at the moment, are you healthy? For most of us, if we looked upon our life from an objective point of view we would realised we are blessed with a beautiful life. Yes, we may have issues and things going wrong, but these are probably quite small and trivial in the grand scheme of things. You may have trouble with a friend or family member, arguing a lot lately. What you need to keep in mind is that this is insignificant. It will work itself out eventually. Has your car packed up? Don’t stress, get it fixed. Sure, it will cost you money but you will live.
Whenever I think I’m down I thank God I’m not one of those starving people in Africa, a homeless person or disabled in some way. Compare your life to someone who is wheelchair bound, or blind. How do you feel now? Lucky?
Every day make a space in your life to be thankful for your life. Go over in your mind what you are blessed with, and what you realise is just an insignificant blip in your life. Daily problems are nothing. You have your health, a home, friends and family. Always compare your life to those less fortunate. This may even encourage you to help those who really need your help.
So please be grateful for your life. It’s over too soon to worry about inconsequential issues that mean diddly squat in the whole scheme of things.
